With a rising trend in everything cannabis, it comes as no surprise that enthusiasts are beginning to formulate works of art inspired by beautiful buds, extract oils and concentrates. Instagram has exploded with hashtags like #MarijuanaArt and #DabArt in response to the infused artwork. There are many beautiful pieces circling the internet and dispensaries around the world, but these are 10 of the most awesome #MarijuanaArt pieces on Instagram.
1. Life essentials
Of course, this painting is titled “3 Essentials.” Artist Anita Toke knows the lighter and flowers are necessities, that goes without saying, but what self-respecting cannabis connoisseur doesn’t own at least one glass pipe? Keeping a unique smoking piece in the collection is a crucial element that should never be forgotten.
2. Official Art Girl
This painting was created for a 2014 cannabis rally held in Denver, Colorado. While the featured artist is unknown, the image is meant to inspire cannabis freedom and visually portray the marijuana movementColorado has become known for.
3. Cannabis colors
This image reveals the true meaning of cannabis empowerment. While the user and the world around him remain dull, once cannabis is introduced bright colors and happiness start to overpower the area. It’s important to note that the smoker appears to be an older gentleman, possibly throwing attention to the ever expanding cannabis customer base.
4. Snoop in his natural form
This image of Snoop Dogg was actually created using stems, joints and hash. Artist Jason Mecier usually creates works of art using candy, pills, food or other household items, but he knew for the Dogg Father’sportrait he needed to use a special medium. This piece has an estimated value of $1,500.
5. Donut delight
Dan Cretu is known for blending his love of food with art, but in this photo he incorporated even more. Cretu sculpts each piece of food for his photographs, then positions them in a way so that they represent something else. In this case, not only is this image meant to represent the munchies we get from smoking, but the donuts are also acting as smoke rings.
6. Designer dabs
As extracts continue to gain popularity, so has creating extravagant works of art with the pliable, sticky substance. Extracts are easily formed into any shape, so artists are continually trying to top what others have already created, leaving us with some amazing art to gawk at.
7. Functioning art
Made from vinyl, fabric and thread, these tiny joint-holder boxes are the perfect sculptures for any cannabis enthusiast. Melanie Bernier creates these cute stash chambers, and even constructs fake, wooden joints to add an extra touch of authenticity to the art.
8. Bright lights from bongs
Bongolier was created by Bentley Meeker. Meeker wanted to create something completely unique and eye-catching, so he constructed the light installation entirely from repurposed glass bongs. The light illuminates the glass pieces, creating a spectrum of colors and shadows throughout the work of art.
9. Smashing stereotypes
Robert Arneson was tired of the stereotypes associated with California’s artists. He created this stone sculpture, entitled California Artist, to represent each of the unfair characteristics associated with his profession. He portrayed himself as a smiling hippie, wearing nothing but a denim jacket, with a cannabis plant and beer bottle to highlight his perceived inspirations.
10. A rose by any other name
This delectable dab sculpture is as beautiful as it is potent. Dispensaries across the United States are starting to carry creations like this, as well as other shapes and character moldings made from dabs, to excite the artist in all of us.
