Dear Mother,

I’m not a cook, but I love edibles. I don’t have the patience to sit there and make canna-butter. Is there an easier way to get some pot in my food? Can’t I just sprinkle it on some popcorn?!

Dear Culinary Virgin,

I totally get it. There are times that you want to enjoy a nice edible but you don’t have access to professionally made ones and there is no way you are going to go through the process of making budder or oil because, let’s face it, you’re just too lazy. So, how can you enjoy some marijuana-infused food without all the work? Let’s dig in.

If you want truly minimal effort, our friends at Vice have hooked you up. This video tutorial walks you through the simple process of making Firecrackers—toasted weed sprinkled on top of graham crackers slathered with a chocolate-nut spread, then toasted again. A little grinding, toasting, and spreading and voila: an easy peasy way to get your edible on.

If s’mores-like snacks aren’t your speed, what about juicing your cannabis? Our friends at Sous-Weed have a recipe for canna-cubes, where you juice your marijuana and then freeze it in an ice cube tray. The resulting herby cubes can be used in everything from smoothies to soups, including this awesome canna-gazpacho!

Note that any of these recipes will have a strong herbal flavor since you’re not taking the time to infuse a fat with it beforehand. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want, though, and cannabis will actually be the perfect herbal match to your dish, like this Sous-Weed recipe for quinoa, where you chop up raw cannabis to mix into the dish along with other tasty, pungent flavors like dill, pine nuts, and fennel.

Chef Jessica Catalano at the Ganja Kitchen Revolution has a bunch of tasty treats you can make on her website that involve super simple preparations, including the delectable Greek yogurt with honey, nuts, and vanilla kush. You’re basically putting yogurt in a dish and topping it with some nuts and yummy herbs—can’t get much easier than that. The flavors she includes (coriander and cardamom) make this recipe pop.

All of these ideas are great and easy ways to start making your own edibles at home until you feel ready to take the next step and up your game with canna-butter or oil! Happy cooking!
